GB3GJ INAUGURAL MEETING

Wednesday 25th March 2009 was the date of the initial meeting for the Channel Island of Jersey new repeater group.

Unfortunately due to an accident the previous week, our repeater keeper: Peter GJ8PVL was unable to attend but in time honoured tradition, if you don't turn up you get given a job he is now the groups elected chairman (its okay, he had already agreed!!) We wish a speedy recovery to Peter. Stand in chairman for the evening was Mike GJ0PDJ (President of the Jersey Amateur Radio Society) who did a fantastic job in keeping everyone in order and getting the necessary business of the evening resolved.

Details of club constitution and membership fees will shortly be posted on this site. We have also had verbal confirmation from Jersey Water that there is a position on the new mast for the repeater though final details etc. have to be agreed.

Finally a very big thank you to the fourteen attendees as well as the support from those who couldn't attend and an even bigger thank you for the monetary donations already received as well as pledges made in support of the new repeater. We hope that we are now close to the halfway mark with the funds required to obtain the repeater equipment and we've only just started 'putting the hat around'. The hoped for target timescale of being on air by Christmas 2009 is looking more realistic all the time and we are sure would be a nice present for all concerned.
