CLUB MEETING 15TH SEPT 2013 PI CANCELLED.

Sorry to say that James is tied up work wise so it looks like next month for the Raspberry Pi talk.

Feel free to bring any items you want to show or anything you want help with. Let us know if you need any test equipment etc.

A message from Jake,G1YFF has reached me. I guess he is a bit busy to come and talk to us at the moment.

GB3EZ GB3EA



Replacement aerials have been delivered and are on site waiting for the rigging date which should be around mid-September, this will allow us the improve the performance of GB3EA and EZ and allow some tests on using two receivers for EZ which could make the receiver about 5 x Better that it is now!

With a 3dB gain aerial on GB3EA and the option to use separate transmitter and receiver aerials, I hope that it will be at least as good as when it first came on air (if not better)

I was lucky enough to be given three decommissioned racks from work, so A colleague and I transported them to site (thanks Martin) and I have moved EA and EZ in to their new homes so it’s all now nice an neat again.

GB3EF

I had been told that the signal strength was down by a couple of users ….

I visited site recently found the SWR to be 5:1 not so goodL the good news is that EF’s PA is still ok in to dummy load.

Dave G8XOR will be investigating this issue and if needs be we will ask BT for rigging assistance to resolve, I don’t know how long this will take.

So I have removed EF from site to update the logic and some other tweaks.



GBPO GB3IH

I had a chat with Bob (M0MUD) this week he tells me that PO is still stuffing from poor performance, this confirms the tests on new Tait PO, which found nothing wrong, so it looks like a site issue possibly an aerial fault?

We need to arrange a site visit to investigate further, Whilst PO has been “in the shop” I have reduced the time to pip and the pip is now much quieter than before, so everyone should get a pip not just a special few ;-)

IH is coming along and Dave (G8XOR)has managed to find time to almost finish the build we’re working on a few minor bugs so I hope it will be on air very soon.

It’s likely that when IH is installed the PO noises will be looked at too.



Site Fees

The Group are lucky enough to have access to 3 good sites for a minimal rent, but it looks that we’ll have to pay for the electricity used at GB3EA GB3EF and GB3EZ going forward,

At the moment I don’t know how much this will be, but BT currently don’t want to review the actual rent J which is good news.

So we encourage all users to support the group by becoming members.

More on this once we know what it’s going to cost.
